KEEPING US CONNECTED

Base Stations

Base station towers dot the landscape and can be seen atop tall buildings in our cities. They will typically have a number of antenna arrays arranged radially around a central core to provide omnidirectional coverage. There may also be a parabolic dish for the gigabit backhaul connection, particularly in rural areas where hardwired backhaul is not possible.
Base stations keep cellular devices connected to the internet and make use of advanced beam steering and multiplexing technology to ensure the best possible connection in dense, complex environments. Large multi-element antenna arrays are at the heart of this technology and the arrays are often stacked to target various cellular bands from within the same housing.
Virtual twin representations can give great insights into performance, but can be complex to create and simulate. Dassault Systemes’ technology is able to handle the complexity with its end-to-end platform-based workflows.
