MAGIC IS IN THE AIR

Gone are the days when stubby antennas stuck out the top of your cell phone or you had to extend the antenna to get a good signal. Previous generations of users understood that these were used for reception like the antenna on an FM radio. Looking at a modern smartphone, antennas are nowhere to be seen and it’s likely that younger generations don’t know what an antenna is. Have they really disappeared ? Well no, there’s no magic, they are just very well hidden.

There are clues on the outside such as gaps in the metal frame that form part of an antenna and “windows” in the frame with a small antenna hidden behind. All of these are custom made and the real skill is getting them to work in a compact and crowded device where there are many wireless services competing for attention. Being able to assess performance and safety compliance in a virtual twin is a game changer.
